Portland Jewelry Academy will give you the foundation needed to begin making quality jewelry in Introduction to Jewelry Manufacturing.
Introduction to Jewelry Manufacturing teaches the skills to get and keep a job in the jewelry industry. Additional courses in advanced wax carving, advanced CAD, and advanced fabrication build skills from foundation to Master.
We provide one on one training so that your individual needs are met.
Jewelry Manufacturing Instructor Jason Chandler
Jason has been studying jewelry manufacturing since 1994. He has a well rounded professional career working in shop settings, retail and private custom designs. He has worked on jewelry for movie stars and politicians, cast hundreds of grams of gold at a time daily, and worked in family owned custom jewelry stores. Most recently Jason has been working as an independent trade jeweler, fabricating and repairing jewelry for several different retail stores as well as making custom jewelry for many clients.
Jason loves the process of making jewelry. He enjoys learning how the old masters made jewelry as well as keeping up to date on the latest techniques.
CAD Instructor Gary Dawson
Gary Dawson is owner of Gary Dawson Designs, an online custom design operation that was once featured as a "Best of the Best" by Instore Magazine , He is also an Accredited Rhino Trainer by
McNeel & Associates and has been teaching Rhinoceros 3D for several years. Dawson has 45 years of experience in creating designs that capture the personalities and stories of his customers, and he is a frequent contributor to MJSA Journal, and has delivered seminars and presentations at numerous events, including AGTA GemFair, Portland Jewelry Symposium, and the Santa Fe Symposium on Jewelry Manufacturing Technology. With his working knowledge of design, jewelry manufacturing procedures, and small-part engineering, Gary focuses his CAD training on manufacturability.
